Question by Away_with_the_faries: Reiki masters, help please?
Hi
I’m a reiki master/teacher and I need some advice. I learned from a teacher who works from home and as far as I know is not a member of any reiki association etc. I would like to know if it’s legal for me to use reiki professionally without buying insurance or joining an association. The only certificate I have is the one she made herself and she did not give me any information about what I need to do next. I have already taught two people (friends) reiki and didn’t charge money. Can you break the law if you are not registered or if you dont have any insurance and do healing for others or teach reiki online?
Im so confused but cant get hold of her at the moment. Can you tell me if I am able to work from home or online with reiki without insurance?
thanks

Sure, any charlatan can set up such a business, claiming to heal, etc. You don’t have to be a member of any association.
By the way, reiki is complete BS.

Some states have requirements for body work which may include Reiki, so it’s best to go to your state’s licensing website and check. Other states have zero requirements for your modality. And while I know insurance is available and recommended for massage therapists, I don’t know about your area.
“The only certificate I have is the one she made herself”.
You’ve been conned. Reiki is a master scam – please don’t inflict it on other people. Can you use it professionally? That depends on where you want to use it. You haven’t said.
I always wondered what would happen if a “student” just burst out laughing during one of these Reeky training sessions?
